Os Afro Sambas
Vinícius de Moares e Baden Powell
We had the great honor of releasing the 50th anniversary reissue of one of the most important albums in Brazilian music. The album is considered the masterpiece of the collaboration between Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes, and its repertoire stands out as a synthesis of the union of post-Bossa Nova samba from Rio de Janeiro with the musical roots of Bahia's Candomblé temples. The mysteries of love and the orishas are the guiding thread of the album, which opens with "Canto de Ossanha," a true MPB anthem. Arranged by maestro Guerra Peixe and featuring a choir from Quarteto em Cy, the album straddles experimentalism, euphoria, and erudition on tracks like "Tempo de Amor," "Canto de Xangô," and "Bocoché."
