BaianaSystem (2009)
BaianaSystem
From the fusion of Bahia and Jamaica, BaianaSystem's first album embodies the DNA of the group that became one of the most important names in Brazilian music. Released on CD in 2010, the sound blends frevo, dub, chula, dancehall, and raggamuffin into one. "Less is more; on this album, we managed to capture that," commented vocalist Russo Passapusso. "There was something raw about this album," explains Roberto Barreto, who conceived BaianaSystem based on research he conducted while seeking to bring Bahian guitar to new spaces.
