NRC#100

Okay. But what do we do with this now?

Rubel

In the fourth work of his career, the singer and songwriter from Rio de Janeiro completely bares his soul. The tracks were composed by Rubel over a month, after his recovery from heart surgery, and were recorded in his home studio, with his own production.

Featuring subtle instrumentation, the album is based on the artist's voice and guitar, harkening back to the tradition of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), with an ambiance complemented by pianos and string and wind arrangements led by Henrique Balbino from Pernambuco . "Beleza. Mas agora a gente faz o que com isso?" (Great. But now what do we do with this?) presents songs written by Rubel, but also a Portuguese version of "A La Ventana, Carolina" by Mexican artist El David Aguilar , and an interpretation of "Reckoner" by Radiohead , which closes the album and features arrangements by Arthur Verocai .

The lyrics have a confessional tone, in verses where Rubel uses images of everyday life with strong lyricism to talk about themes such as love, but above all to make existential reflections on his own life. It's no coincidence that the album begins with the verses of "Feiticeiro Gozador": "I have/ So much to live/ I fear/ That time won't allow."
