In 2014, Mallu Magalhães, Marcelo Camelo, and Portuguese drummer Fred Ferreira turned their friendship into a band, Banda do Mar. With the renowned Portuguese musician and producer, the Brazilian couple created a self-titled album that became a landmark. Filled with sunny songs influenced by surf music, the album reached number one on the Brazilian iTunes Store, number two on the Portuguese iTunes Store, and number five on the Mozambique iTunes Store. Seven of its tracks were among the most downloaded in Brazil and Portugal in 2014.
