Australian band Hiatus Kaiyote has been sampled by giants like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Beyoncé. A fascinating blend of R&B, jazz, funk, neo soul, and Brazilian music, the group's latest work explores all these musical genres, but doesn't fit into any of them. Partially recorded in Brazil, the album features maestro Arthur Verocai on the string and brass arrangements of the tracks "Get Sun" and "Stone or Lavender." The album "Mood Valiant" is a refined and accessible work, with intense and inventive vocals, mesmerizing bass lines, pianos, synthesizers, strings, woodwinds, and always plenty of rhythm.
