Azimüth (1975)
Azymuth
Composed of José Roberto Bertrami on piano and synthesizers, Ivan "Mamão" Conti on drums, and Alex Malheiros on bass, the group was at the forefront of sonic experimentation. Alongside artists such as Milton Nascimento, Marcos Valle, Elis Regina, Clara Nunes, and Tim Maia, they made countless recordings.
The LP "Azimüth" marks the band's debut with its original repertoire. With an innovative sound, the group fostered a dialogue between Brazilian rhythms, especially samba, and jazz, funk, and rock. The trio was the first Brazilian group to perform at the Montreux Festival and has been sampled by several international artists, such as Will I Am and Gramatik. This is a simple LP, without the isolated instrumental tracks found on online players.
