Lady of the Earth
Elza Soares
A samba gem, the work explores different expressions of the genre, such as partido alto and samba-enredo, with touches of ijexá or jazz (in the singer's classic bebop ). Featuring a strong band, Senhora da Terra features arrangements with percussion, drums, guitar, cavaquinho, and wind instruments.
With the luxurious participation of Wilson das Neves, the work was produced by Maestro Luiz Roberto, arranged by Maestro Nelsinho and features songs by samba giants such as Dona Ivone Lara, Mauro Duarte and Beto Sem Braço.
There is also one of Elza Soares' rare compositions, "Abertura", which deals with the return of political exiles during the military dictatorship: "Open the door, open your chest, opening/ Weak line, strong line, hard line."
