Bandido (1976)
Ney Matogrosso

Luedji Luna is the moment — and she's back at the NRC! Success Um Mar Pra Cada Um, her new album of new songs, is the club's latest release. Noize Record Club subscribers get the translucent blue vinyl accompanied by NOIZE magazine #163, which delves into the singer's new phase.
The work, which features tracks produced by Zudizilla , Curumin , Lucs Romero , Kato Change and Duda Raupp , concludes Luedji's aquatic trilogy, which began in Bom Mesmo É Estar Debaixo D'Água (2020), NRC Issue #54.
Um Mar Pra Cada Um offers an immersion into global Black music. Jazz is a central element, with wind instruments inspired by John Coltrane 's 1965 classic A Love Supreme , and even an instrumental track, "Gênesis," featuring Bahian maestro Ubiratan Marques .
"The breath that animates life, which is present at the beginning of all things, in Christian cosmogony and in so many others. It is the vehicle, and love is the original source; the foundation of all creation, of everything that exists. That's why the first track is titled 'Genesis' and begins with a sax," declares the artist.
In addition to the grand instrumentations, which also feature pianos, choirs and string arrangements, the album features the popular neo-soul groove, inspired by Erykah Badu , loaded with bass lines, beats and synthesizers.
The artist also celebrates Brazilian culture, with an interpolation of Luiz Melodia 's "Pérola Negra" in "Joia" — a collaboration with Angolan artist François Muleka . Bahia appears in "Gamboa," a track in which Salvador beach appears as the backdrop: "Full belly/ Fish stew/ Tide filling up."
In "Baby Te Amo," the voice of Sergipe poet Beatriz Nascimento , who died in 1990, is recreated by artificial intelligence to recite the poem of the same name. Karina Siervi 's sound healing frequencies also feature on the track, closing the album with atmospheric drums and flutes.
The album also includes guest appearances by artists such as Liniker and Tali , as well as international appearances by English saxophonist Nubya Garcia , Japanese trumpeter Takuya Kuroda and North American guitarist Isaiah Shakerey .
"This album came about so I could heal my past self, who invented love, because it was the only way to inhabit love. And also so I could understand that I'm worthy of being loved because, like any human being, I'm a divine being," Luedji reflects on the work.
